'Harappa Trilogy' by Shankar N. Kashyap

Most of the readers had often looked at Harappa as one of the names which kept appearing in the pages of history book but never really had been talked about from a fiction standpoint. The veteran UK based Indian novelist Shankar N. Kashyap took it on himself to come up with a really refreshing take on Harappa through periodic story-line against a lost world. It is an honour to experience the neat story-line
From a reader’s stance the way faith had been depicted throughout is the marque concept that forces you to think that faith in reality is beyond any religion and it has a driving power of its own. There are several other such take-aways which the series offers to its readers. It is up to the audience to decide and choose the ones they want to retain.
which spreads across three sub titles. Each chapter unveils a unique side of Indian past which ultimately builds the stage for the climax. Other than the content of writing, the cover page also deserves a special mention for the unconventional depiction of history based fiction genre.

Singer and song writer Malini Banerjee launched her original Bengali song "Aami Haarte Raaji Noi" that makes a powerful statement on Empowerment

Haunted by heartbreak, she mustered the courage to harness her inner demons and transform them into strength by pouring out her feelings into soul stirring lyrics. Currently, the only multilingual singer-songwriter in Kolkata, Malini Banerjee released her original Bengali song “Aami Haarte Raaji Noi” that talks about a woman and her victorious fight against sexual injustice and domestic abuse.
Chief guest Chaitali Das, jute revivalist, Mrs International Classic 2018 and Fortune Most Power Women US State Department Alumna and guest of honour Amyt Datta, guitarist, composer, producer and mentor and Sidhu released the song at Topcat CCU on August 7 along with musicians
Bodhisattwa Ghosh and Gaurab Chatterjee.
Says Malini, “The song is inspired by a personal experience. I was in a serious relationship which, unfortunately, ended in violence. I was completely dejected and had shut myself off from the world. The only way I felt I could deal with the situation was by penning what I was going through. But, through the hurt and anger, I also discovered that this entire episode had taught me how to depend on myself, and that brought with it a sense of freedom I’d never felt before. This is the message that my song aims to give – as women we have to trust our own instinct and carve a path for ourselves. We owe it to ourselves and to each other.”

“Aami Haarte Raaji Noi” also brings together a bunch of musicians who are nothing less than a ‘dream rock band’- the kind that ruled the music scene in the late 90s and early 2000s, but hasn’t been heard, of late. The song has been arranged and produced by Bodhisattwa Ghosh, who has also performed guitar duties, while Aakash Ganguly is on bass, Gaurab Chatterjee on drums and Sudipto Paul is on keys.
Born in Dehradun, the talented artist was raised all over the country including Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai because of the nature of her father’s job. Crediting her mother- “woman with the voice of an angel” she says- as her biggest inspiration, Malini started to sing at the tender age of three and by her early teens she had started to take formal lessons in Hindustani Classical Music and Rabindrasangeet. Before pursuing music as a full-time vocation, she built a successful career in news, television production and public relations working with an eclectic mix of organisations such as NDTV, UTV and Atletico de Kolkata among others. Malini has also rendered playback for TVCs, popular television shows like Nisha Aur Usske Cousins and Teri Meri Love Storys, and feature films including Gang of Ghosts (the Hindi remake of Bhooter Bhaibishyat) and 4 songs in two Bengali films composed by well-known music director Samidh Mukherjee. While working, she has also had to combat health issues that led to two back to back surgeries. While they did set her back by time, they did absolutely nothing to dampen her spirit.

Describing herself as a go-getter and someone with a lot of perseverance to follow her dreams, Malini aims to be known for her independent music. “Despite all the talent, there are, sadly, very few women in this part of the world that are independently writing and telling their own stories through music. I wish to change that and encourage more women to come forward and sing their own songs”, she says. She wants women to let their guard down and not be afraid to show the world who they truly are.

Organic GOATS bred and nurtured by Imperial Livestock & Agro Farms

Imperial Livestock & Agro Farms, located near Sonarpur, held its first press conference on breeding and nurturing of goats by industry experts at the hallowed Birla Planetarium Hall. The keynote Speakers were Mehboob Reza and H. Zaman, the Owner of Imperial Livestock & Agro Farms.
Imperial Livestock and Agro Farms is primarily a goat farm located in West Bengal, India, about 36 km from the city of Kolkata. They rear about 10 breeds of pasture raised goats for milk and meat.
The interactive meet was to give an idea about the first Organic Goat Farm of Kolkata which also functions as an integrated farm. The method used in weighing goats is set to bring down the cost as compared to other traditional ways. The scientific aspects of the farm relies on goats being raised organically instead of being injected to accelerate growth by using harmful fattening steroids such as dexamethasone that affect the kidneys of the consumers in the long run. The farm features a doctor at hand 24/7 to care for the livestock.

The Director of Imperial Livestock and Agro Farms, H. Zaman said, “The concept arose out of a need to essentially provide consumers healthy mutton, free of harmful chemicals and steroids that are used for fattening animals. Our goats are organically raised on natural fodder and grow into healthy animals in a scientific manner, in a clean environment, well cared for and brought up to produce the finest quality of mutton.”

SAMSARA PREMERE AT ACROPOLIC MALL

Friday & Co. presented 'SAMSARA' premiere at Acropplos Mall.

Social Friend - Moumita Chatterjee has said some beautiful word to her loveable friend Paromita Ghosh

Yes! Yes!! I know every Friendship is social. But in my case, it was virtual to begin with. Facebook can find your old school or college friends, work associates, etc. But I hardly knew that it can find you a soulmate.
'Soulmate' means a friend who understands you and being understood. The one entity who becomes inseparable from all aspects of your life.....At every struggle who will be there for you. Who will always stand beside you firmly and lovingly and give you the courage to fight all odds. She can give you a solid kick when you did something wrong. So she teaches you a lot, nags you, bothers you, but in every way she cares for you. She is that one individual to whom you turn when all options are gone, in bad mood, in gloom and of course during ecstasy and party.

Yessss.... I have found that sort of a 'Soul Friend', nay, my 'Soul Sister' through Facebook.
She is mad, creative, jolly, many things together. And, above all, she does lots of good work for lots of women who want to stand up and do something worthwhile in life.
She is Paromita Ghosh, my friend, philosopher, guide, my 'SOULMATE'.
I am one of the many many women she has helped rise in life. But I dare not say "Thank You Paromita" as that cute prankster will k... me for anything good I say of her. People like Paromita are the rarest of rare breeds who will continue to love and help you without an iota of return or any expectation.
Friend/Sis - I love you always. And this will be forever & forever. We don't want to set friendship goals for anyone. Always be like this. I promise this Friendship Day and other hundreds of Friendship Days we will be there for each other. And our GOA plan is on, surely.....
   Love you always, Paromita!!!!
And, Yes.... Happy Friendship Day to all of you all.
May you all find what I have found in my Paromita, a true 'SOULMATE'.

The festival saw participation from other renowned dance groups and artists like Massala Dance Company, Florent Schwartz, Harm Weistra, Julianna Ottlick, Compagnie Humaine, Dadans, Papia Chakraborty, Buoyant Performing Arts, Syimah Sabtu, Subhajit Khush Das, Stefano Fardelli, Parth Bharadwaj, Pintu Das, Van Huyhn Company, Pietro Marullo, Casey Avaunt, Diya Naidu, Purnendra Meshram and Vanessa Maria Mirza.
Talking about her experience, Vanessa said, “I was inspired in the beginning in 2014 to try to create a small onetime event in Calcutta for artists to meet and share their work, which developed into a festival in 2015.

It had an amazing response from artists, audiences and participants. And so I dared to dream to create an organization to support the Festival as an International Dance Biennale with smaller events in between for years. I was lucky to be able to have an international team to support this as well as Indian based advisers and board members. I think it's important as artists not to be too easily satisfied with what we are creating and where we are at, and to be aware of what is happening in other parts of our country and around the world.”
Making this event extra special is the ambition of Vanessa to ensure the Festival is open to all by offering most events free of charge – apart from workshops requiring a participation fee. Performances and showcases will take place across Kolkata inviting the national and international audience to discover our unique city whilst watching some of the finest contemporary dance made today. Dance Bridges Festival has at heart to engage with local artists and connect them with artists from around the world. For this edition, 3 international choreographers have been offered the opportunity to spend a few days in Kolkata to create new dance pieces with local performers, which will then be presented during the Festival. The various venues of DBF includes ICCR Kolkata, Alka Jalan Foundation (Ballyngunge), Alliance Française du Bengale, International Management Institute (Alipore), Kolkata Centre for Creativity (E.M. Bypass), American Center and Quest Mall.
This year's theme “The Sense of Intimacy” reflects a wide range of shows connecting audiences to personal stories of artists from around the world. “We will explore performances in unconventional settings and bring the viewers closer to the performers to create a space for unique and personal encounters. We will look at how turning our focus towards deeper human connections may help us to cope with our changing world and society,” signed off Vanessa.
